Stormy soliloquy

Storm clouds gather thick and dark
Pushing out the fading light of day
The breeze stirs, lifting the heavy humidity
Promising relief soon to come

Thunder booms in the distance
I search for glimmers of lightning
Marveling at the unfolding scene
In awe of the greatness unfurling

None of it in my control
But none of it out of control
Every single atom directed
By the Sovereign Creator

Who am I, I wonder
That the God in charge
Of this powerful chaos
Knows and loves me

Though storms unleash their fury
I’m hidden safe in his arms
Sheltered beneath his wings
Comforted by his care

The God of the calm
Is also the God of the storm
He can halt it with a word
Or hold me close as it rages
